The PCARRD Investment Package for Banana

Try the Investment Package for Banana (Lakatan) Farms in Luzon, an investor’s guide to establishing and managing a 1-ha banana plantation.

Developed by PCARRD, this publication offers information on the feasibility of banana production, package of technologies, sources of planting materials, description of common pests and diseases, industry profile, available credit facilities, and contact details of technical experts.

The book will be formally launched on 27 July 2007 at the Queentown Farm, Indang Cavite.

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Estrella Alabastro, former Senator Ramon Magsaysay, Jr., former Cavite Governor Juanito Remulla, and Congressman Jesus Crispin C. Remulla of the 3rd District of Cavite will grace the event.

Also to adorn the event are Cavite State University (CavSU) President Ruperto S. Sangalang, Cavite Modern Growers, Inc. (CMGI) President Edilberto R. Silan, PCARRD Executive Director Patricio S. Faylon, and the farmer cooperators and members of CMGI.

The Investment Package for Banana (Lakatan) in Luzon is an output of the Investment Package for the Production of Quality Fresh Banana Fruits: Lakatan, Latundan, and Saba Project coordinated and funded by PCARRD in 2005.

The project envisioned that technological interventions matched with proper marketing, organizational structure and other support services will produce modern and sustainable smallhold banana farms in Luzon.
