PROSEA Philippines is a collaboration between the PROSEA Foundation and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCARRD). Presently, it is within jurisdiction of the Crops Research Division.

For effective and efficient documentation and dissemination of PROSEA information, the PROSEA Philippines tapped the various Regional R&D Consortia, to become PROSEA Regional Nodes. Through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the regional consortia, documentation of information relevant to PROSEA has been considered part of the activities of the Regional Management Information Services (RMIS), and the PROSEA Databank as an integral part of the consortium's One-Stop-Information-Shop. Dissemination of the PROSEA information, has been likewise, the joint activity of the PCARRD, PROSEA and the Regional Consortia.

Documentation Activities

PROSEA databank development

The   Country Office contibutes to the development and updating of the PROSEA databank by gathering and documenting various information on plant resources all over the country, mainly through its Regional Nodes.

Training on indexing and databank utilization

Trains and updates PROSEA Regional Nodes and member agencies on documenting and utilizing of PROSEA databank.

Dissemination and Promotion Activities

Training course on lowland (rice-based) agroforestry system (LAS)

Project of the Country Office through the EC-III dissemination program in collaboration with the Institute of Renewable Natural Resources (IRNR) of the University of the Philippines Los Baņos (UPLB) College of Forestry and Natural Resources Management (CFNR).  The course was conducted November and December, 1998, and demonstrated the LAS an approach to aid in reforestation, biodiversity conservation, food security, rural poverty alleviation.

Summer environmental youth camp (Eco Camp)

A summer camp for secondary school students which makes use of participatory and peer group approaches to help increase environmental consciousness of the youth. For two years (1999, 2000), the Ecocamp was made possible through the collaboration of PROSEA, EC, UPLB School for Environmental Science and Management (SESAM) and NetWorks, Inc. and conducted by five UPLB student-based organizations - UP Alpha Sigma Fraternity, Haribon UPLB, UP Human Ecology Students Society, UP Kappa Phi Sigma and UP Varrons Ltd.

PROSEA green thumbs up!: a game design contest

The activity was a contest among the second-year level students of the Philippine Science High School, concluded February 2001.  "PROSEA green thumbs up!" capitalized on the creativity of the students to design informative and educational games using PROSEA-based information.

PROSEA national stakeholders workshop

To help sustain and mainstream PROSEA information in the country, a national stakeholders workshop was conducted to familiarize key institutions and organizations engaged in the use and provision of information on plant resources about PROSEA and determine action plans to showcase utilization of PROSEA information in their organizations.
