PCARRD
has stayed in its number one slot for having the most-published
articles in print, since 1988, among the Department of Science and
Technology (DOST) agencies.
This
was announced in a recent meeting of the DOST Media Core at the
Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) in Bicutan,
Taguig, Metro Manila.
Vicky
Bartilet, head of STII’s Communication Resources and Production
Division, reported that PCARRD has had the highest number of published
press releases among the DOST councils and research institutes.
Last
year, the Council was followed by STII, Food and Nutrition Research
Institute (FNRI), Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research
and Development, and Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Research
and Development.
While
PCARRD’s published press releases garnered the highest media
value in 2004, PCARRD ranked fourth last year. FNRI held the top
post in terms of media value for the institute’s published
press releases in 2005.
Media
value is calculated based on the size of space in square centimeters
covered by a press release in a newspaper. (Arlene R. Obmerga, S&T
