PCARRD’s
work plan with the Rural Development Administration (RDA) of Korea
continues this year with the dispatch of its applied communication
experts to the International Technical Cooperation Center of RDA
and the arrival of a livestock expert from RDA on Feb. 20.
Dr.
Si-Dong Kim, researcher at the RDA-National Livestock Research Institute
will arrive on Feb. 20 to assist the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC)
in setting up the national database on animal performance and pedigree
in consonance with the International Center for Animal Recording
standards.
Dr.
Kim will also assess the progress being made on the safety system
introduced to the Philippines last year. The Philippines is the
first country to conduct a project with RDA in enhancing consumer
safety from the farm to the table as part of the efforts in livestock
improvement.
From
PCARRD, Dr. Kim will go to PCC in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, to
meet Dr. Libertado C. Cruz, PCC executive director. He will also
visit PCC in Ubay, Bohol. He will return to South Korea on March
1.
Meanwhile,
Ms. Concepcion D. Villamayor, the Council’s first of four
communication experts for the year, has left for Korea on Feb. 1.
This mission on editing and communication-related support has been
a standard component of the work plan. (Maria Estela H. Facundo,
