Bon Liong is a pioneering hybrid rice producer and chief executive
officer of the Sterling Paper Group, a diversified conglomerate
with interests in import trade and agriculture, paper mills, and
supermarkets, among other ventures.
Velasco,
whose professional career spans university instruction, research,
and extension, is the new chancellor of the University of the Philippines
Los Baños.
In
a recent development, the Department of Environment and Natural
Resources (DENR) has appointed Forestry and Research Undersecretary
Ramon J.P. Paje as its representative to the GC.
Other
GC members are Secretary Domingo F. Panganiban of the Department
of Agriculture; Executive Director Patricio S. Faylon of PCARRD;
Deputy Director General Margarita R. Songco of the National Economic
and Development Authority; and Dr. Feliciano B. Calora of the private
