PCARRD
has brought together scientific and professional organizations and
associations in agriculture to form a potent force for agricultural
modernization.
Organized
as the Federation of Philippine Agricultural Scientific and Professional
Organizations, Inc. (FPASPO), it hopes to harmonize all development
activities of its member-associations with the national development
goals. Such synchronization aims to eliminate work duplication and
promote complementation and replication of best practices.
The
federation is expected to provide a venue to discuss issues related
to agriculture; advocate unified positions on important agricultural
issues; enhance networking and alliances with government and industry;
promote excellence and growth in the exercise of the agriculture
profession; synchronize activities of member-associations and share
resources; and extend assistance to members in the pursuit of common
objectives.
To
gain headway, officials of the federation were elected last March.
They are Dr. Annabelle S. Sarabia of the Philippine Society of Animal
Science (PSAS), president; Mr. Jesus Lapitan of the Association
of Professionals in Livestock Production, vice-president; and Dr.
Virginia Cardenas of the Philippine Extension Network, secretary.
Other
member-organizations include the Mycological Society of the Philippines,
Philippine Fruits Association, Philippine Agricultural Economics
and Development Association, Inc., and Philippine Society of Soil
Science and Technology.
The
federation is open for membership. For inquiries please e-mail r.juanillo@pcarrd.dost.gov.ph
