Sec. Alabastro sees Muñoz transformation into an IT hub
 

Muñoz, Nueva Ecija – DOST Secretary Estrella F. Alabastro witnessed another turning point for the City of Muñoz when it launched its CyberCity for the K-AgriNet Open Academy for Philippine Agriculture.

Sec. Alabastro, in her speech, stressed the impact of networking (e-commerce), especially on economic development.

“Alam kong malaki ang maitutulong nito sa pagpapabilis ng kaunlaran ng inyong bayan. Magbibigay daan ito upang paigtingin ang pakikipag-ugnayan ninyo hindi lamang sa loob ng bansa kundi maging sa labas.”

  


DOST Sec. Estrella Alabastro and Mayor Nestor Alvarez cut the ribbon symbolizing that Muñoz is officially a CyberCity.

Sec. Alabastro said that the government recognizes the important role of ICT in national development and that DOST has set several information and communications technology (ICT) initiatives to realize it.

Meanwhile, Muñoz City Mayor Nestor Alvarez said that the CyberCity aims to strengthen the interconnectivity of all R&D institutions in the country through the use of ICT. He also encouraged his constituents to be aggressive in adopting modern technologies.

Alvarez said: “Dahil sa (ang) ating panahon ay makabago at moderno, kailangan nating sumabay sa agos upang makaalinsabay (tayo) sa mga pagbabagong idudulot nito. Ang pagtuklas ng makabagong paraan ng pakikipagugnayan ay lubos na makapag-aangat sa sektor ng agrickultura sa ating bansa.” (Paul Jersey G. Leron, S&T Media Service)
