With
the aim to showcase the packing technology for mango and vegetables,
PCARRD participated in the first Go Negosyo Entrepreneurship Expo
held on Feb. 24–25 at the trade hall of Market! Market! in
Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Metro Manila.
The
Council, through its Crops Research Division and Applied Communication
Division, put up an exhibit promoting the packinghouse system for
mango and the improved packaging technology for vegetables, particularly
for cabbage and carrot. The packing technologies aim to ensure export-quality
fruits and vegetables with long shelf-life.
The
PCARRD exhibit, along with other exhibits, was visited by students,
educators, entrepreneurs, farmers and farm owners.
The
expo, with more than 300 stalls participating, was visited by President
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo with her chief of staff Mike Defensor.
Due
to the unexpected number of visitors, the organizers decided to
extend the event for another day. (Paul Jersey G. Leron, S&T
