In
the meeting, both organizations agreed in principle to collaborate
on the exchange of scientific and technical information; conduct
of seminars, workshop, conferences; support for training courses;
provision of technical consultancy services; exchange of scientists;
and joint S&T projects.
Speaking before
a number of PCARRD’s directorate and senior staff, Dr. Tsou
shared STPI’s efforts in coordinating the knowledge management
of S&T information in Taiwan.
He said that
the Philippines could do well to fast-track a knowledge-based agricultural
industry.
Moreover, the
scientist said that technology foresight was the major springboard
in forecasting the global agricultural scenario.
He said that
STPI’s bulk of responsibilities to put agriculture at the
forefront of development include putting up a database, conducting
analysis, setting up a scenario, and providing indicators and foresight
analysis.
STPI
promotes S&T research and development by facilitating the dissemination
of S&T information across Taiwan and in other countries. It
is the hub of S&T information integration and dissemination,
the media of S&T knowledge and industry innovation, and the
gateway to cross-nation joint research projects on S&T policies.
