Support Communication (DSC) - Philippines
DSC was first introduced in
the country in 1991 through the PCARRD/UNDP-FAO project entitled
“Development Support Communication for Selected Agricultural
Technology Transfer Project: PHI/87/006.” It was a three-year project
implemented in Regions II, IV, VI, IX, and XI and coordinated by
PCARRD. DSC-Philippines promotes the systematic use of appropriate
communication techniques and channels. It institutionalizes the
participatory approach in technology generation and utilization by
helping the rural population identify informational needs and
problems, and the approaches, services, and technologies necessary to
address these concerns. It plays an important role in facilitating
assessment of community needs and stimulating community population to
collectively act and decide for themselves. DSC features the
community audio tower system (CATS). |
