of Detoxification Processes in Wild Yam (Dioscorea hispida Dennst.) for El Niņo- and La Niņa-Affected Areas

 


Wild yam or Kayos (Dioscorea hispida Dennst) has been a reliable indigenous food for many upland communities. However, cases of poisoning in the highlands of Kidapawan, South Cotabato during the peak of the 1997-98 El Niņo episode necessitated the conduct of a study on its detoxification and value as food.
