The Los Baņos Science Community (LBSC) is a group of agencies with the University of the Philippines Los Baņos (UPLB) as its nucleus. Its members are agencies under the umbrella of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Environment and Natural resources (DENR), and Department of Agriculture (DA). Members also include international organizations, private entities, a national institute, a fisheries school, and the municipal goverment of Los Baņos.
The main thrust of the community is to accelerate rural development. This involves the generation, verification, packaging, and dissemination of technologies and information to promote agricultural and natural resources development.
