CARRDEC holds 16th R&D symposium and techno forum

The Cotabato Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (CARRDEC) has successfully conducted its 16th R&D highlights symposium and technology commercialization forum with the theme “Adding Value to Research, Development and Extension (RDE) through Partnership”

The two-day activity, held 30-31 August featured 3 paper presentations in the research category, 4 papers in the development category during the R&D symposium; and presentations on good farming practices from farmer scientists and from a private individual during the technology forum.

Paper evaluators from PCARRD commended the presenters and challenged them to strive for excellent, relevant, and globally competitive R&D outputs/technologies.

This year’s winners are:

Best papers received a cash prize of P2,000 each and certificates of recognition while the runners-up received certificates. The winners were encouraged to submit their papers to PCARRD for screening and evaluation for possible presentation during the National Symposium on Agricultural Resources Research and Development (NSARRD) in November.

Meanwhile, the technology forum, which featured topics on organic farming and sustainable agriculture, received positive reactions from participants and farmers.

For Mr. Danilo Java, a farmer, organic agriculture seemed unachievable. With the technology forum, he realized, “we have all the resources: technology, human capital, land, money and others”. He added, “with our concerted efforts, we will be able to achieve our dream of having a healthy nation.”

The event was hosted by the Southern Christian College (SCC), Midsayap, Cotabato. (Leonila M. Tolentino, CARRDEC)
