The
Bicol University College of Agriculture and Forestry (BUCAF)-local
government unit (LGU) Farmers’ Information and Technology
Services (FITS) center, Guinobatan, Albay and the Department of
Agriculture (DA), Legazpi City recently held a training program
on vegetable production and processing for the relocatees affected
by typhoon Reming.
The
training, held three days each in Taysan, Legazpi City and in Guinobatan,
Albay from 21 to 26 May featured lectures and hands-on exercises
in demonstration farms for pakbet vegetables at the Taysan
Relocation Site and BUCAF campus.
With
funding from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the training
program was implemented to support the goals of ensuring food security
and creating livelihood opportunities for Reming victims
