LOS BAÑOS,
Laguna – PCARRD and the Ecosystems Research and Development
Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (ERDB-
DENR) formally launched their first ecotourism project during a
ceremony held last 31 July at DENR-ERDB headquarters.
The project,
“A Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment to Enhance Ecotourism
in Barangay Kinabuhayan and Taytay, Mt. Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected
Landscape” would gather data and generate information that
would guide the crafting of an ecotourism management plan for Mt.
Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected Landscape.
Highlighting
the launching ceremony were messages of support from Dr. Patricio
S. Faylon, PCARRD Executive Director as delivered by Dr. Romulo
T. Aggangan, PCARRD Director for Forestry and Environment, and ERDB
Director Marcial C. Amaro, Jr. Likewise, heads and representatives
of partner stakeholders declared their support thru messages and
by their signing of a joint declaration of support to the project.
Signatories
were Regional Executive Director Eduardo Principe of DENR Region
4; Dr. Cecille Gascon, President of the Southern Luzon State University
(SLSU); Mayor Renato Alilio of Dolores, Quezon; and Mayor Tino Rodillas
of Majayjay, Laguna.
The project
is being implemented by DENR-ERDB, led by Dr. Lope A. Calanog and
with funding support from PCARRD-DOST, DENR-ERDB, DENR-Region IV-A,
DENR- Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau, SLSU, LGUs (Quezon Province;
Dolores, Quezon; Majayjay, Laguna and San Pablo City) and the Department
of Tourism Region IV.
All partner
institutions signed the joint statement of support. The Laguna Lake
