PCARRD writeshops ready e-learning modules on agri commodities

In recognition of the importance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the transfer of technology, PCARRD brought together various experts to develop e-learning modules for technologies in agriculture and forestry.

Expert teams convened in separate writeshop series held from May to June in various locations to draft the e-learning modules on goat production and health; goat enterprise; and organic fertilizer production and application.

Drs. Emilio M. Cruz and Virginia M. Venturina of the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and Mr. Francisco G. Gabunada of Leyte State University (LSU) developed the technical materials for the online course on establishing goat enterprise.

Dr. Nenita dela Cruz of CLSU and Ms. Gloria P. Rodulfo of the University of the Philippines Los Baños - Institute of Plant Breeding (UPLB-IPB) wrote the module content for organic fertilizer production and application. Dr. Eduardo P. Paningbatan of the College of Agriculture, UPLB reviewed the content.

An e-learning module on bamboo will also be developed.

The e-learning modules on goat, organic fertilizer and bamboo are funded by PCARRD through its Enhancing FITS for Rural Development project. The modules will also form part of the e-learning program offered by the Open Academy for Philippine Agriculture (OPAPA). (Lilia G. Bayabos, S&T Media Service)
