FITS
managers in Southern Tagalog successfully completed the Package
of Technology (POT) training recently conducted by the Southern
Tagalog Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium
(STARRDEC).
With theme “Building
Capabilities of FITS in Information, Education and Communication
(IEC) Production”, the training program equipped the FITS
managers with the necessary skills for producing popular IEC materials.
The training
covered modules on the principles in popular writing and layouting
for print media. The lectures were delivered by Eisen Bernard V.
Bernardo of the Office of Public Relations, University of the Philippines
Los Baños (UPLB).
Karen Rose M.
Tubay of STARRDEC gave lectures on the use of digital cameras and
basic designs in photography. The participants practiced photography
within the UPLB campus.
For the Adobe
InDesign CS2 module, Florante Cruz, Regional Management Information
Service representative of UPLB gave lectures and demonstrations.
For their output,
the participants designed IEC materials (using Adobe InDesign) on
their respective Centers’ focus commodity.
The
skills gained by the FITS managers from this training program are
expected to help in the production of more IEC materials for the
Techno Pinoy centers. This training is also STARRDEC’s response
to the growing agricultural information needs of farmers and other
clients in the region. (Amy Melissa B. Malaluan, STARRDEC)
