The
Guinobatan Techno Pinoy Center found a new ally in helping Albay
farmers recover.
The NXP Semiconductor
Philippines recently gave out farm animals and machineries to farmers’
cooperatives – the Doña Mercedes Farmers’ Development
Cooperative (DMFDC) and the Malabnig Small Coconut Farmers Organization
(MSCFO), both in Guinobatan, Albay. This was part of their Carabao
Dispersal and Farm Equipment Assistance Program.
NXP Community
Relations Chairman, Mr. Rudy Fuentes and other officials formally
awarded a total of two tractors, two threshers, and 12 carabaos
to the recipient cooperatives in a ceremony held last 15 June 2007
at the Bicol University - Daraga Campus. Cooperative officials and
members received the assistance.
The company
also donated three new computers for the Guinobatan Techno Pinoy
Center. Prof. Leilani D. Pavilando, Guinobatan Techno Pinoy Center
Manager gladly received the equipment. The computers are seen to
further enhance the Center’s services.
These
efforts are part of NXP Semiconductors Philippines’ commitment
to its corporate social responsibility. It can be recalled that
in 2006, it distributed relief goods to about 2,000 families in
six most typhoon-affected barangays of Guinobatan.
