Research Grants for Young Scientists

The International Foundation for Science (IFS) invites young developing country scientists of merit to submit research project proposals.

Proposals will be considered on the management, use, and conservation of biological resources in these areas:

  • Aquatic Resources
  • Animal Production
  • Crop Science
  • Forestry/Agroforestry
  • Food Science
  • Natural Products

IFS research grants amount up to USD 12,000 and are used to purchase equipment, expendable supplies, and literature. Salaries and basic research facilities are expected to be provided by the grantee's institution.

 

Eligibility criteria

  • citizen of a developing country (with exception of grey countries on map)
  • younger than 40 (Chinese applicants 30)
  • beginning of research career
  • at MSc or equivalent degree
  • working at a university or research institution in a developing country
  • carrying out the research project in a developing country
