ARMRD performs the following functions:   

• develops, monitors, and evaluates the national research and development programs on agricultural resources management commodities;

• establishes and updates priority research areas for Agricultural Engineering and Agricultural Ecosystems based on the regional and national thrusts of the government;

• assists in strengthening the operations of the different consortia;

• assists in budget dialogues with the different agencies on the proposed R and D programs;

• establishes strong coordination and relationships with the private and public sectors for effective information and technology transfer;

• pursues collaborative R and D activities (including funding, exchange of expertise and materials, equipment, and common data classification) with national and international institutions;

• formulates, reviews, and advocates policies on agricultural resources management;

• coordinates the documentation and dissemination of R and D information and technologies;

• formulates programs and activities for manpower development; and,

• establishes and maintains a system for collection, storage and retrieval of data and information.
