Plantation Timber Industry-1996
The industry has manifold purposes such as rehabilitation the degraded forest area, supplying raw materials for wood based industries (pulpwood, sawn timber, etc.), and providing fuelwood and charcoal. To establish protection and amenity forests and conserve rare and endangered tree species, fast growing forest tree species are usually preferred.

Primary Wood Processing Industry-1996
The primary wood processing industry, a thriving economy booster for the Philippines, uses various grades of roundwood (industrial timber) in its major wood-based sectors: 1) wood-treating sector for poles and piles (Philippine Wood Preservation Association); 2) lumber and panel sector manufacturing lumber, veneer, plywood, and composition boards (Philippine Wood Producers Association); and the 3) pulp and paper sector (PULPAPEL).

Given the proper impetus, the primate industry can help the country to attain a NIChood status by the year 2000. Howeve, efforts should be geared toward export of research results rather than live animals.
