  Programs

The  Agricultural Ecosystems R and D Program focuses on the conservation, protection, rehabilitation, and improvement of natural resources. Its goal is to develop and promote technologies that conserve agricultural resources in order to maintain sustainable productivity  and ensure the quality, sustainability, and sufficiency of products for human consumption. 

 

The Program aims to: 1) develop technologies that will enhance the conservation of soil and water resources; 2) promote the utilization of conservation technologies in order to minimize environmental risks; and 3) improve efficiency and use of fertilizer and pesticides. 

 

Ongoing PCARRD and DOST-GIA Projects:

  • Management and rehabilitation of degraded hilly lands in the Philippines, Phase IV (DA-STIARC, BSWM)

  • MSEC: An innovative approach to sustainable land management in Lantapan, Bukidnon (CMU)

  • Trial implementation of ecological waste management and utilization in different classes of urban households in Brgy. Vasra, Quezon City (DENR-NCR)

  • Production and efficacy test of controlled released fertilizer (CRF) in lahar affected areas and coarse textured soil

    • Production and evaluation of encapsulated fertilizers in lahar affected areas and coarse textured soil (ITDI)

    • Efficacy test of encapsulated fertilizers in lahar affected areas and coarse textured soil (CLSU)

  • Utilization of PGPR in vegetable production and propagation of ornamentals (UPLB)
