Environment Hazard Management

Misuse and overuse of chemicals may pose hazards to the environment. The agricultural produce and bodies of water may have intolerable amounts of pesticide residues, which is detrimental to human health. Studies conducted include the following:

Determination of the extent of use and contamination of pesticides

Health hazard caused by exposure to insecticides used in mango and gourd (ampalaya and patola)

Rapid field test kit to detect the levels of pesticides right in the field where recommendations can be done on the spot. The rapid test kit has been commercialized since 1993 while the test kit for other groups of pesticides (pyrethroids/organochlorines, carbamates, EBDC, fungicides and penulurea herbicides) are being promoted and ready for commercialization.
